Aquinas College, Calvin College, Cornerstone University, Grand Valley State University, Ferris State University, Davenport University, Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, and Western Michigan University have campuses located within the County.
Major employers include Spectrum Health, Meijer Incorporated, Steelcase Incorporated, Alticor Incorporated and Spartan Stores. It is also the home of the Frederik Meijer Gardens, a significant cultural landmark of the Midwest.
